James Phillippe posted an update
Hey everyone!
My name is James Phillippe. I’m currently an LVN in the Army Reserves, a former active-duty medic, and a nursing student in Austin, Texas, working on my ADN. I plan to start an ICU residency after graduating this September and pursue a BSN bridge program online at the same time.
CRNA is a term I’ve been familiar with since birth—my dad graduated from the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia just a month after I was born. My interest in pursuing nurse anesthesia developed during my time in the Army, where I worked as an LVN alongside Army CRNAs (66F). They were in a league of their own—encouraging, knowledgeable, and always willing to teach. The work environment, culture, and fascinating world of anesthesia drew me in.
As I began researching the field, I discovered the CRNA Club. Sachi welcomed me warmly and invited me to the CRNA workshop in April 2024. That workshop set me on a clear path, equipping me with tools and foundational knowledge to start this journey on the right foot. Sachi has continued to provide encouragement and guidance on steps I can take early on to maximize my chances of success in this career.
I know I have quite a journey ahead, but I’m excited about the future. The CRNA Club platform, podcasts, and tools keep me motivated and confident that my goals are achievable. I look forward to learning from all of you and wish you the best of luck as we take the next steps toward becoming CRNAs!

JAMES! HI! You made it over!
Thanks for sharing a bit more of your story.. I had no idea you and CRNA history went way back!
Your graduation will come before you know it, and getting ICU experience while you wrap up your BSN is very wise. You already have so much knowledge under your belt, can’t way to see where this year takes you! Excited you’re here. And thank you for the kind words!
