Hey Christina! Great question, a lot of people wonder the same thing. Here are my thought bubbles:
1. While you may have liked your essay, we’ll never know if “they” liked your essay, which is the most important thing. Did you have other people read/edit your essay to make sure you were on the right track? The priority is that you’re answering the prompt. I see many applicants write a great essay, but they’re not answering the prompt. For example, if they said “Why do you want to be a CRNA” you need to be sure you’re answering THAT questions vs going off explaining all about the acuity of your ICU etc.
2. If you effectively answers the prompt, and you have room, I would include what you have done in the past cycle to improve yourself.
3. My thought process is – if you didn’t get an interview the first time, why submit the same essay where you didn’t get an interview? While your resume likely changed, they’re skimming the resume, your essay also needs to reflect the things you’ve updated (again, if the prompt allows space for you to work this in!) Just my two cents!

I used Magoosh! I took it without studying in 2020 and got a 295, used Magoosh passively during nursing school took it again and got a 305 (probably will take it again at some point and use Magoosh but it actually helped increase my score LOL)

This is great information! Thank you for sharing, Mario!

From what I’ve heard in the past, you take turns interviewing with multiple program directors, and of course you’ll get a mix of EQ and clinical questions. Be prepared with questions to ask current LEAP students as well, you’ll do great!

We’re giving away $150!I am Shana Dagny, I am applying to several schools at the moment with RFU and Rush being my main contenders as I live in Chicago – but now more open to expanding that horizon. I both love and get stressed with this journey and process as it’s character-building and fulfilling and requires a lot of energy. Love and support Sachi and this club with all my heart. I used to/ I guess still am a professional actress as well as a CVICU nurse and I’m an ice swimmer. I have a knack for connecting people and I love to laugh. I’ve been in nursing for close to 20 years and very recently had this calling for CRNA. The people in this club are fantastic I’ve met a few during the AANA conference and it is such a blast to be part of a team when going for your dreams.

I’m glad to have joined this group and I’m excited to gain insight from all of you! My current goal is to complete my residency and apply to transition into the ICU (fingers crossed). I wanted to get into the ICU right after graduation, but hospitals here do not offer ICU as part of the new grad residency programs. So, I’m not applying to CRNA for a long time from today but I’m hoping that when I do I will be fully prepared with the required prerequisites and certifications! With that being said I can’t wait to see the new prerequisite feature!

I have been a member of the CRNA club for almost 6 months and it has been so helpful in my application journey! I have been an ICU nurse for 2 years this month. I recently applied to my first school and am returning to start interview prep. I will apply to the rest of my schools throughout the next 5 ish months. One of the goals I want to achieve to boost my application is getting my CMC or CSC. So far, my favorite thing about the new platform is the look and functionality. Before, it was a little difficult to find all of my resources. I also really like these forums to ask questions and build relationships with people going through the same thing as me!

AdministratorJanuary 15, 2025 at 4:02 am in reply to: [GIVEAWAY] Let’s introduce ourselves! We’re giving away $150!Hello everyone. My name is Patrick Mansfield and I have been a nurse for 15 years, with experience in CICU, CVICU, and Cardiac Cath Lab. I have applied to Mary Baldwin University and University of Charleston and received and interview invite from MBU. If I do not get accepted to either program I will be taking biochem online and will try to take the advanced pathophys course offered through MBU. One thing I love about the new platform is the “my saved schools” and the discussions that will be specific to each school; allowing us to interact with other applicants/SRNAs/alumni for more insight. Thanks Sachi for always working hard to help us get into CRNA school and supporting us along the way throughout!!!!

AdministratorJanuary 27, 2025 at 4:47 am in reply to: 2025 Annual Congress – Nashville, TN@hhoppe156d4192c so I think it depends on a few things (they’re both good btw).
1. Are your programs in the DMV area? The MYA is always in D.C. and is a big lobbying event, more than likely you’ll connect with people who are near D.C. (although people from around the country do attend, I would say that more SRNAs/Faculty/CRNAs will attend MYA)
2. If you are applying to multiple programs in different geographical areas, the Annual Congress is a good options because everyone from around the country will be there, meaning, you can hit multiple birds with one stone so to speak>Lastly, if you are only applying to say, a few programs in one geographical area, then I would definitely just recommend attending your State’s AANA meeting. For example, if you’re banking on Alabama schools, going to an Alabama-specific event means a more intimate, higher likelihood scenario of you networking with Alabama peeps. It’s not guaranteed that Alabama faculty will be at either of the national events, but they’ll likely be at the State event.
Sooooo, long way of saying, are you schools scattered across the country (Annual Congress), or are they in one state (go to a state meeting)…or do you live in the DMV area and want to stay there or it’s more affordable for you to attend the MYA (then do that). Hope this makes sense!
